Assessment of the Entrepreneurial employability of fisheries students and its relationship with syllabus (Case study: Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the level of entrepreneurial employment (self-employment) of fisheries students with an emphasis on the quality of the curriculum. The research method is based on a questionnaire survey. The statistical population includes 328 students. In examining the relationship between the evaluation of the quality of the course curriculum and employability using the Pearson correlation test, r=0.38 was obtained. In examining the relationship between multiple line regression and Stepwise method between the evaluation components of the curriculum quality of the field (independent factors) and employability (dependent factor), only the factor of space and educational facilities was isolated as a significant factor in employability. r2=0.21). In the analysis of multiple linear regression relationship and Stepwise method, only two factors of skill certificate and gender were isolated as significant factors in employability (r=0.13). In each of the items related to the evaluation of the quality of the curriculum, a significant difference was observed between the three groups of educational levels in terms of responsiveness only in the item defining educational goals (P<0.05). In this item, the doctoral level scored significantly less than the other two groups (average rank of undergraduate: 59.6, master's degree: 55.5, and doctoral degree: 0.41.1). In the evaluation of employability, doctoral degrees were significantly higher than master's degrees (P<0.05). (Average rank of bachelor's degree: 5.48, master's degree: 8.41 and doctorate 1.58). The findings showed that based on the average rank obtained for each of the employability items, space and educational facilities, having a skill certificate and gender had the highest priority in employment.
