Abstract
Importance of awareness about morphological characteristics as one of the key indicators in evaluating the status of fish species and understanding the dynamics of their populations, measurements were conducted in this study regarding morphometric parameters as well as counting characteristics related to the species Trypauchen vagina (Bloch & Schneider, 1801). Although in previous studies, only a small number of this species were reported in the waters of the Persian Gulf, including Musa bay, Qeshm Island, the coasts of Kuwait, and Iraqi marine waters, in this study, a greater number of samples of this species were observed in the Lifeh region in the coastal waters of Khuzestan province during the autumn of 2017 and the summer of 2018. The results showed that the minimum and maximum lengths in this study were 10 and 15.7 cm, respectively. Moreover, the results showed that this species exhibited isometric growth. Given the potential environmental impact of invasive species, particularly competition with native species, confirmation of the presence of a new invasive species should be viewed with concern. Of course, confirmation of this hypothesis requires further investigation and confirmation of the ability of this species to create living populations on the Khuzestan coast.
