Abstract

The aim of this descriptive- correlational study was to assess trout farm fisheries owners' managerial skills and its relation with their farm yield. The statistical population consisted of all trout farm fisheries with official production license in Mahneshan County (147 units) which 110 units as sample selected by multi-stage randomized sampling method based on Cochran's sampling formula. The validity of research tool (questionnaire) is verified by a panel of experts and its reliability was obtained by conducting pretest and calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient equals with 0.94 for managerial skills composite index. Findings revealed that majority of farm managers (76.8%) had a medium and lower level of managerial skills. A significant positive relationship was found between yields of farms with managerial skills of managers. There was a significant positive correlation between farm' yield with variables' e.g. education attained, the extent of information resources using by managers but age, loss rate and production time period and the unused time period of ponds had a negative meaningful correlation with farm' yields. There was a significant negative correlation between farms' yield with variables e.g. age, the unused time period of ponds, and production time period of fish. Education attained and quantity of fish production in previous years had a significant positive correlation with farms' yield.
